Welcome to Affiliate Marketing OS.
Before I share with you my secrets behind affiliate riches, let me tell you a quick story of back when I started The Side Blogger.
See, I came from an engineering background. I had no idea how to run a blog back in 2018. But… perhaps it is thanks to my engineering background, I always like to build toward a solid goal.
So, I asked myself:
Q: What is the result I want?
A: $500 per month from a blog.
Q: How will I make that money?
A: By selling things.
Q: What will I sell?
A: No time for making courses (yeah, I was too preoccupied to make my own offers then), so I’ll sell affiliate offers.
Q: Which affiliate offers?
A: This blogger [name redacted] apparently makes five figures every month by selling WordPress hosting. I could do that.
Q: How will I sell WordPress hosting?
A: By writing about WordPress.
And that’s how the first iteration of Side Blogger was born.
I wrote about how to set up a blog on WordPress, how to speed up WordPress sites, how to install WordPress plugins, how to set up WooCommerce, and a bunch of WordPress-related blog posts, and as expected, made my first couple of sales within a month!
I tell you this story to point out a few things:
First, the order is NOT… write content, then come up with an offer.
The correct order is: What’s the offer you’ll sell, and then write content to sell that offer.
Second, you need a solid business plan. A solid business plan is not a complicated business plan… it’s a plan that works. In my case, my business plan was to sell WordPress hosting (I was then and am still with SiteGround, and they pay handsomely to their affiliates, FYI), so I had to do a few things:
- Have my own website on WordPress
- Have a good site, well-designed, fast-loading, etc.
- Have all the best website practices so people can trust my advice (SSL, image optimization, solid security, CDN)
- Show my authority on the subject matter by writing about related topics (all of the things I just listed above)
- Share my posts (Pinterest, then and now)
And that was it.
My entire business plan.
And with that, I made faster sales than most people who were starting a blog at the time.
What I shared above relates to whatever affiliate product you’re selling.
It can be SaaS (Software as a Service) such as SiteGround WordPress hosting, Canva, CoSchedule, Kit (all companies I’m an affiliate for).
Or you can sell other creators’ offers as an affiliate. I recently promoted ChatGPT Mastery by Gasper Crepinsek, Copy Riddles by John Bejakovic, Click Sell Earn — an ebook on passive income — by Igor Kheifets.
I have also promoted my offers through other affiliates and made more money than I would have had I only sold my offers to my own audience, and in the process ended up growing my own audience, too.
And that’s the other thing…
In this course, I will not only show you how to make an affiliate income by promoting others’ offers, but also how to make more money selling your own offers through affiliates.
I hope I have convinced you sufficiently that understanding affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make more money with your business.
And so, let’s get started.
